Welcome to our Italian Pages, we have spent the last three years searching for area's best suited for quality of life & good value property in Italy, The Area's (locations)we have decided on are place's we would live in ourselves. While searching the countryside and beach location's one thing was never far from our minds Spain ! The reason for this was simply comparisons on both Countries and the provinces within them. Although we mention above having spent three year's searching we must admit it was not all searching only after 8 months and 14 trips we found what we were looking for.
Comparisons from our experience in Spain
Making comparisons from our experience in Spain / location's / Amenities / Infrastructure / and the sometimes left out but most important Logistics of it all.
In 1997 Logistics in Spain for Example was not so good, I recall trying to fly from London Stansted or Dublin to Alicante or Seville , and it was not the easiest of things to do. From Dublin to Madrid and on to Alicante was the only way at short notice, but today and generally since 2001 Budget Air / Easy Jet, Ryan Air and a host of other big carriers have made it much more accessible and affordable to go, recent studies show that a lot of people for the first time are going to Spain and Italy for affordable weekend breaks.
A lot has changed in a short period of time. watching this take place and understanding the example of accessibility and logistics that helped change the face of some of the lesser know area's in Spain I.E. Costa Calida Murcia / Mar Menor / Almeria / Nerca / we decided to follow trends in Aviation or flight patterns, Strange as it might seem it made perfect sense to us. Most of these well know area's were not know at the time to English or Irish people, the flight companies' had focused mainly on the north Spain Costa Brava and Costa del sol etc. we see today the same example in Italy as locations are becoming more accessible with better flight patterns and more flights made possible with modern but simple technology the Internet.
The main reason the Internet has played such a vital role is price, flights today can be obtained quickly without tickets and at much more affordable price's, flight companies' do not need to pay extra staff to deal with bookings as we do this ourselves online and thus obtain better price's. Ryanair recently put a new service on its website allowing you to check in before arriving at your Airport.
When some of the big carriers went to Costa Calida Murcia, shortly after this each area received a huge increase in people movement, not only for holidays but people also went to start a new life to open businesses to retire etc. To move to these area's makes a lot of sense today, people can get back and forth easily and quite feasibly, the cost of living is considerably less, and the Spanish & Italian way of life is just more relaxing.
Our main reason for stopping where we did in Italy was first the accessibility, second the sheer beauty & thirdly the cost of living (price of Property). The Accessibility was down to the Airline carrier Ryan Air with four flights daily to Province of Puglia or Apuglia, Located in the south of Italy it has provincial area's with five big City's and is generally know as the heel of Italy, its coastline is dotted with blue flag beach's.
It is part of Italy so-called Mezzogiorno or the "heel" of Southern Italy . More than three quarters of the land is used for agriculture: cereals, tobacco, vegetables, fruit, olives and wine.
